Innovapost Raises One Million Dollars for Charity
Innovapost will celebrate this milestone during its annual Fall Festival campaign for the United Way, October 20th – 31st, in Ottawa, Mississauga and Toronto
Innovapost, a leading provider of IT solutions and services, announced today that it has raised one million dollars for charity since the company was founded in May of 2002. The Company achieved the milestone through employee donations, special events and corporate contribution to community and charitable organizations including: Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Ontario, Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and Habitat for Humanity Canada.
“Innovapost believes that supporting charitable organizations allows us to give back to the communities we work and live in,” said Brendan Timmins, chief executive officer of Innovapost. “We are extremely pleased to have raised a million dollars for our community and charity partners in only six years, and look forward to continuing this tradition at our Fall Festival campaign this year.”
One of the charity partners that Innovapost supports is the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Ontario. The mission of Make-A-Wish, granting wishes to create hope and happiness for children with life-threatening illnesses, is especially close to Innovapost’s primary charitable cause—supporting families and children in need.
“Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario is delighted with the continuing support from Innovapost,” said Mike Wlotzki, executive director, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Ontario. “Our family at Innovapost continues to help us with our mission. It is because of people like those at Innovapost that we can make a difference in a child’s life.”
Innovapost is also a committed supporter of various local charities throughout Ottawa, Mississauga and Toronto where their 800 employees live and work. The Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto and The Ottawa Hospital are both benefactors of Innovapost’s annual Fall Festival campaign for the United Way.
“The support that Innovapost has provided our organization is truly making a difference in peoples’ lives as well as to the doctors and nurses who care for them,” said Susan Doyle, president and chief executive officer of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation. “Their generous campaigns have helped us build a better hospital, given us new tools and helped to modernize our facilities.”
A cornerstone to Innovapost charity fundraising efforts has been its Community and Charitable Events Committee (CCE). “The CCE was formed to create a bottom-up, employee-led team to bring Innovapost into the community, and to provide focus and support to those initiatives proposed by our employees,” said Jennifer Tomlinson, director of Growth and Strategy at Innovapost, and 2008 CCE director sponsor. “The CCE and Innovapost’s management team have provided a culture and framework for corporate responsibility and charitable fundraising, but it is our dedicated employees who make it happen.”
Key achievements include:
- Innovapost’s annual Fall Festival campaign for the United Way has raised over $800,000 for charities in Ottawa, Mississauga and Toronto (with an average annual contribution increase of 26 per cent)
- Innovapost employees in Toronto and Ottawa have helped to build five houses for deserving families with Habitat for Humanity Canada
- Innovapost was able to purchase essential tools used daily by the staff of The Ottawa Hospital including a trauma stretcher, fluid warmer, warming/cooling blanket, infusion pump and IV pole with pump attachment
